Adams State here Friday in Dual Meet - May 12, 1937

The Trinidad Junior College Squad which will meet the Adams State Normal of Alamosa crew in a dual Track and Field meet at Miner stadium Friday probably will be named either today or tomorrow. Coach George W. Scott has been working with a squad of about 24for the past two weeks and thru the medium of daily tryouts has been able to obtain a fairly accurate line upon the ability of each of the candidates.

 

The squad, small for Coach Scott, who came to the Trojan school from Ft. Collins national champions, via Colorado School of Mines, has handicapped Scott, which coupled with his squad's inexperience, resulted in a lot of extra work teaching fundamentals, before the actual grind of conditioning could begin.

 

Men for the sprints will be selected from Grisham. R. Pitt. Renner. Steveson, Lucero, Vigil and Weeden. In the longer runs, Coach Scott will pick from Ratkovich, Fine, Lovatto, R. Davies, Crabtree, Boyd, Hunter and Davis.

 

Hurdlers are to be chosen from Renner, Steveson, Hawley, Butero and Stone. Stone, Hawley and Butero will likely form the pole vaulting unit.

 

Grisham, Hawley and Butero are high jump aspirants and Grisham. Hawley and Davis are out for the broad jump, Javelin candidates include…
