Trojans sign three more from Colorado

Lexi Aguilar

Coach Steve Swazo is busy preparing his 2012 team to start play in the coming week so wrapping up his recruiting has been keeping him extra busy. He recently announced the signing of three more girls, all coming from schools in Colorado.

Lexi Aguilar was an outfielder for Greeley West High School in Greeley. She hit for a .370 batting average and also collected 17 hits for the Lady Spartans her senior season.

“Lexi is a type of player that not only can play in the outfield but if we need her to she can play in the infield as well,” Coach Swazo said. “We are very fortunate to have a player with her kind of speed and the fact that she swings the bat from both sides of the plate is also a plus.”

Lexi is the daughter of Caren and Ricky Aguilar.

Melissa Pigott

Coming from Douglas County High School in Castle Rock is infielder Melissa Pigott. Melissa had a very successful last two years for the Huskies as she had 11 HR, 56 RBI and 61 hits. She holds the single season homerun record at the school with six her junior year.

“Melissa is a type of player that can play the corner or at shortstop. She has a strong arm and can swing it,” Coach Swazo said. “We are going to take a look at her at the shortstop position. She has a great arm.”

Melissa is the daughter of Michael and Karen Pigott.

Tonya Trujillo

Tonya Trujillo was an outfielder from Pueblo South High School in Pueblo. She was a first team All-Conference selection hitting .347 for the Lady Colts. She also was a 3-year letter-winner in softball and made the All-State Academic team.

“We are excited to get a player like Tonya who can play in the outfield but also play in the infield if need be,” Coach Swazo said. “She had a great year for the Pueblo South Colts helping them reach the semi-finals of the Class 4A State Championships.”

Tonya is the daughter of Michael and Julie Trujillo.
