His team earned a bid to the 2005 Connie Mack World Series. Colter and his wife Janet live in Trinidad, CO where Colter works for Hanover Compression and his wife Janet teaches kindergarten at Eckhart Elementary School.
"Colter is my right hand man," said Coach Douglas. "He no longer has to wear so many hats with the addition of Matt. I’m glad that he only has to focus on the position player side of things."
ASSISTANT COACH -pitching coach/recruiting coordinator
Matt Cover
Matt Cover enters his second year as the pitching coach/recruiting coordinator at TSJC. Cover was born and raised in Pueblo. His parents are Sheila and the late Jim Cover.
“My parents are my heroes and have been extremely supportive throughout my life”, Coach Cover said.
Coach Cover also has two brothers, Brian and Kevin.
Cover graduated from Pueblo South. He played baseball for Marc Johnson’s Cherry Creek fall baseball team both his junior and senior years. After high school he went on to play two successful years at Lamar Community College.
Cover then went to Texas Tech before transferring to CSU-Pueblo to finish out his career in his hometown. After college he was the pitching coach at Otero for three years.
“Matt has been a solid addition to our staff,” commented Head Coach Scott Douglas. “We were looking for a guy who could teach and could help pitchers develop. He did that at Otero and he has already done that here. I was very impressed with how the Otero starters pitched during his time there and it was evident Matt was the reason. When I heard Matt was available and realized he would fit here, we hired him. The timing was right and the fit was there. Matt's work with the pitchers was one of the reasons we got 43 wins last season. Both Colter (Assistant Coach Colter Faverino) and Matt make us a better program. I am fortunate to have them coaching with me.”
