Kim High School standout volleyball player Chelsea Butler recently signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Trinidad State. Butler is a 5’9” outside/right side hitter who helped lead the Mustangs to a 12-5 record in 2009. She was named to the All-Conference and All-State volleyball teams for the 2009 season.

Chelsea also plays basketball for Kim. The Mustangs finished the 2008-2009 season as the state runner-up and are undefeated and playing in the state tournament this weekend. She was all-conference in basketball in 2008 and 2007. She also participates in track at Kim High. In track, Chelsea went to state for the high jump in 2008 and placed 6th. She returned to state again for track in 2009 and placed 10th in the high jump.

“We are very excited that Chelsea will be joining us for the 2010 season,” commented Coach Ellen McGill. “I am excited to have some local talent on the team this coming season. She is a tremendous athlete and has a great attitude about life. We are fortunate to have her on the squad for next season!”

Chelsea’s parents are Rick and Michelle Butler. She is interested in studying Nursing at TSJC.
