Head Coach Steve Swazo

Coach Steve Swazo enters his sixth season as head softball coach of the Lady Trojan softball team. During the 2011 season, Swazo received his 100th career college victory and now has 126 wins for the Trojans.
His teams have accomplished four consecutive winning seasons and led the Lady Trojans to their third straight Region IX Runner-Up finish. The Lady Trojans set the school record for the single highest batting average at .348 in 2011 and his team had a total of eight girls make first or second team all-region along with two Lady Trojans making the NJCAA All-American Academic Team.
For the 2011-12 season, he will return nine sophomores and bring in 10 talented incoming freshman.
Prior to Trinidad State Junior College, Swazo, a native of Trinidad, was an assistant baseball coach for Trinidad High School as well as the freshmen boys basketball coach and worked with special needs students. From 1985 through 2005, Swazo coached in Nebraska and has more than 20 years of coaching high school baseball teams. He also assisted in coaching clinics with the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Oklahoma State University, and Northeastern Oklahoma A& M College and was the women’s JV basketball coach for one year at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Swazo holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education and minor in Special Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and also a degree in radio broadcasting. Coach Swazo has a goal to place his student-athletes on to a four-year institutions. So far a total of twelve former Trinidad State Junior College softball players played softball and furthered their education at a four-year university. Coach Swazo has helped out with many softball camps in Colorado sponsored by Triple Crown and in the summer of 2011, he coached an All-American team in New York City.

Assistant Coach - Holly Stevens

Holly Stevens, from Pueblo West, Colorado is in her first season coaching with the Lady Trojans. A recent graduate from Colorado State University- Pueblo, Stevens has a BS in Liberal Studies and a minor in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in psychology.
Stevens is no stranger to the Lady Trojan softball program as she attended Trinidad State Junior College for two years and was part of the first class that made it to the Region IX championship game in 2008 with a record of 30-22. During her two years with the Lady Trojans, Stevens played first base and received Academic All-American honors her sophomore year.
“We are very excited to have Holly back with our program,” Head Coach Steve Swazo said. “Not only is she a former player, but she knows our philosophy and system and loves the game, and that is a huge part of coaching. Just in her short time with us she has been a great addition and I'm looking forward to having her be part of our program again.”
Stevens attended Pueblo West High School where the school achieved back to back state championships. She was a 3 year letter winner in softball and also lettered in academics.
In her spare time Stevens’ enjoys hiking, camping, hunting, and spending time with her family. Her parents are Alan and Heidi Stevens of Pueblo West
