Lady Trojans wrap up first half of season

With thirteen games played and at least twelve remaining on the schedule the woman’s basketball team is taking a well deserved break for the holidays. They take a 3-10 record into the break.

“We made a pact that we would never use being a first year program as an excuse to not try and compete every night out,” commented Coach Rich Holden. “Well, against college competition I thought we had a chance to win two of those ten losses and we played very well in one other. So three out of ten times we reached a high enough level of play to feel good about ourselves. In the other seven, that was not the case. However, all and all, I feel we are continuing to improve toward being college players and a college team."

The team started the season at 2-2 with wins over the Northeastern All-Stars and Adams State JV. The competition improved down the stretch and the Trojans struggled against teams like #17 Western Nebraska, Odessa, Western Wyoming and Central Wyoming falling in six straight.

Individually the Trojans have been getting points and rebounds from all over the roster. Carolyn Lampkin and Kiley Dixon are averaging six rebounds a game. Jen Ingargiola, Ciera Jones, Kristen DiPaola, Jasmine Michael and Lampkin are all averaging over seven points a game.

When the team returns in January they will have a pair of non-region games before they start Region IX play against Lamar on January 26. They have five remaining home games with the first being against Eastern Wyoming on January 21 at 5 p.m.
